switching from KDM to GDM on SuSE 8.1
 

I want to switch to GDM2 as my disp manager just need to know what configs need to be edited. And where GDM2 will need to be located.
I installed GDM2 from Rpm but it's config file is in a different directory:
/etc/X11/KDM but /etc/opt/gnome/GDM2
should i move or link this before trying to run it?

for me, under Mandrake 9 Modifying the /etc/sysconfig/desktop file does the trick. It's a simple one line config. DESKTOP = GDM (for me) Perhaps it is the same for SuSe? If that does not exsist trace your init steps starting at (usually) /etc/rc.d/rcX.d (where X equals your runtime level (usually 5 for graphics)).
