SuseLinux 10.1: Loaded with problems

I'm having a lot of issues here. Granted, I am still pretty new to linux, I was able to however, get some going on Mandriva 2006.
However, I am getting all these issues with SuseLinux 10.1 (DVD).

Kaffeine - It won't play DVD's. I installed the packages libdvdread and libdvdnav, and even a xine one involving DVD.

I just get this error when I try to play DVDs:

This version of Xine (used by Kaffeine) has only a reduced
set of supported codecs. It is not able to play DVDs.
Read http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2003/09/xine_dvd.html for further details.

Xine won't work either, protection, copy rights, all that stuff.

Moving right along....

I'm noticing some games don't have any sound whatsoever.

Where is "show/hide desktop"? I like using that, ever since I was on windows, an old version. I miss it.

Also, my TV card (Leadtek - Winfast) works great under mandriva, no issues, BASIC to set up; Suse however, not detecting channels in KdeTV.

I also can't burn MP3's into CD Audio.

That's a good start anyway. I'd like to expand in the linux world. So far, just mandriva, and some in suse.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Add the packman repository:

http
Server: packman.iu-bremen.de
Directory: suse/10.1

When added go to Software Management. Search for libxine, and install that and w32codecs

After that is all done open up a konsole and logon as su

then copy the following command and paste:

rpm -ivh http://download.videolan.org/pub/lib...2.9-1.i386.rpm

THat will allow DVD playing

For the "Show / Hide Desktop" Right click on the panel and say "Add Applet" (KDE) or Add to Panel for Gnome (There you'll see show desktop)

For Burning MP3's install lame and mad also from the packman repositories

i'm a huge fan of mplayer, which seems to play everything. i'm pretty sure suse has the rpm's for it, but you do need the codecs and such...you might wanna check out mplayerhome page, and check out the downloads page from there...they list the different packages and the codecs and stuff you would need. also, once you have the codecs installed, xine and totem if you have that should also work for you.

I think I'm at the right place, but no clue on what to click on after suse/10.1/

update...

I found this libxine in that suse/10.1/x86_64 and i believe it was installed.
I must have missed something:

linux-npir:/home/jeremy # rpm -ivh http://download.videolan.org/pub/lib...2.9-1.i386.rpm

I tried the show/hide desktop that you mentioned. found that, thanks! :)
