I am attempting to install Suse v9.2 on a ASUS P4P800 motherboard that was previously running Windows XP without any problems. Now, during the boot sequence I can see that there appears to be input, from where I do not know, of repeating 1s, so that you get a continue stream of:
This persists after the system enters in to the configruation GUI, for any field I have to input data. I have tried unplugging the keyboard (both before and after a boot) and the problem persists.
I am at a loss, as this is keeping me from doing the install (ie - when I try to enter a root passwd all I get is ones). Any ideas?

You able to boot up with a Live CD or something to test the output? Have another keyboard to test that? What it sounds like is that you have a stuck key and it is just a coincidence about the new install.
Edit: What machine are you typing on now? lol, apparently you have another keyboard
I have a few other systems, this one that I am typing on being a WinXP laptop. I do have a backup keyboard and have used that, likewise I have taken the keyboard on the system in question and plugged it into another system, no problem. Further, I did not have any keyboard plugged in at all and the problem occurred through the boot. Definately not the keyboard. What else could it be!?
Live CD is a good idea, have Knoppix and will give that a try.
So I tried a Mandrake 10.1 install and had the same repeating one issue. I tried a WinXP install CD, exited to a command prompt, and no repeating ones. So it appears only to occur with Linux distros... Very strange...
One last point, I am able to enter boot options with no problem at the beginning of the install. The problem only pops up after the RAM disk is made and during the 'creating device nodes'...

Thank you for the links, interesting reads and indeed may be related somehow. I am only using IDE drives and have disabled the ATA/RAID at the BIOS previously.
I had previously installed Suse v9.1 on this system and did not have this problem, so a 2.6 kernel has been there before. I am wondering if something hasn't gotten zapped somewhere along the way...
Yikes Yeah I would have to agree, if you've installed it before and now it won't work, there could be a hardware problem. Just out of curiousity, are you able to install SuSE 9.1 again?

SuSE 9.1 has the same behavior now as well. Strange...
