SuSe OpenExchange

I'm looking at installing a new Linux based mail server at one of my clients. This will be to replace their current SurgeMail Windows based mail server install that they are somewhat unhappy with.

I had some previous experience with SuSe OpenExchange, and was very happy with it. I was going to suggest that they use this, but now that Novell has SuSe, I've been unable to locate any information on purchasing it on their website. Is OpenExchange still available?

If not, can someone recommend a good alternative? It doesn't have to be necessarily SuSe specific. This client currently has some Mandrake servers and a Fedora Core 3 server. I'm willing to build the new mail server on Fedora, SuSe, Mandrive, or Slackware. If anyone has any suggestions for a good mail server that is somewhat comparable to OpenExchange, I'd love to hear about it.

OpenXchange has its own website now, http://www.openexchange.com

That's exactly what I was hoping for. My google search didn't find that b/c I didn't put a space between open and exchange. Thanks for the info. I'm pretty excited about checking out a newer version and the possibility of using it in production again.

If anyone knows of another good alternative, I'm still looking to make some comparisons.

I was just looking for this same thing a couple of months back and found Zimbra (http://www.zimbra.com) and Scalix (http://www.scalix.com) as possibilities to use in a linux environment. They each have their strong points and weak spots, but overall both really good products. The Scalix is more configurable and hardcore, but the zimbra more intuitive as far as installation. Neither has Outlook (Express) integration capabilities till you purchase a license.

Another thing to do is a google search for "linux email server" there are quite a few that have cropped up over the last year or so.

I believe that Novell now has nothing to do with openexchange, there is however the Hula Project..
