suse offline update
Hi all, please, is there any way one could update suse on an offline computer? I thought I could just download the files from something like this
.../linux/suse/i386/update/10.0/ put them into a directory and direct YOU to it. But, how do I know which ones to download? Is there any way to find out? There is bunch of rpms and patches. Thanks a lot for your answers. |
That's not really an easy task. It is perfectly doable, you will need to get a list of what you have, and what is available, and compare the two. Then you can download required updates, but I don't know how eaisily you can find out about potential dependency problems.
I think really that I would wait a week or two for 10.1 to be released and do a new install. |
Once..i wanted to update ..i had my laptop with me..i stoped of at an airport and used their wireless.....shrugs

done
Hi all, I thing I know how to do this.
in the .../linux/suse/i386/update/10.0/ directory, there are several other directories, one of them is called "patches". I downloaded this directory and found out that it is some kind of information about the available updates, when I directed YOU to it it gave me the list of updates but could not download them. However, it was then possible to get the list of actual rpms that I needed for the update so I downloaded them, put them in the .../rpm/i586/ directory, just like it was on the server and it worked! |
not for 10.1
