suse offline update
 

Hi all, please, is there any way one could update suse on an offline computer? I thought I could just download the files from something like this
.../linux/suse/i386/update/10.0/
put them into a directory and direct YOU to it. But, how do I know which ones to download? Is there any way to find out? There is bunch of rpms and patches.

That's not really an easy task. It is perfectly doable, you will need to get a list of what you have, and what is available, and compare the two. Then you can download required updates, but I don't know how eaisily you can find out about potential dependency problems.
I think really that I would wait a week or two for 10.1 to be released and do a new install.

Once..i wanted to update ..i had my laptop with me..i stoped of at an airport and used their wireless.....shrugs

Hi all, I thing I know how to do this.
in the .../linux/suse/i386/update/10.0/ directory, there are several other directories, one of them is called "patches". I downloaded this directory and found out that it is some kind of information about the available updates, when I directed YOU to it it gave me the list of updates but could not download them. However, it was then possible to get the list of actual rpms that I needed for the update so I downloaded them, put them in the .../rpm/i586/ directory, just like it was on the server and it worked!

Unfortunately that does not work for 10.1. As far as I see, you need to 'register' to get a mirror that holds the patches. I searched on my suse boxes for something similar as the .../patches directory in vain. There must be some config files that I did not find yet to make rug pch work from a local directory.
