Suse does not goed beyond GRUB

Hello everyone.

I got a windows running using 50% of the one HD and the other 50% to Linux suse 9.1. The second is 100% dedicated to Linux. Something has been corrupted in the linux and I can't go beyond the boot. I donwloaded the updated version from suse ftp server to replace sthg corrupted and I can't run anymore. The suse boots and goes up to half of the initialization and stop. I tryed to re-install suse from CD but stop after the linux message" initiating linux the installation .... " and stays with the prompty blinking.

Does somebody have some clue how to put the linux running again?

PS. The windows is working in other partition.

Hi.

I ran Knnopix from CD and could see the file structure below. There is
something creating boot files in cascade. The last one is locked . I could not
delete them because the last one is locked (message : file doesn't exist) . I'm
new in linux, could you please give some clue how to delete and provide a way
to avoid the creation of this sequence of boot files. I guess this way the
second half of kernel goes ahead. Please does someone may to confirm my theory.

in the system suse is suppose to boot from the same HD that is installed windows
XP. Windows is one partition(50%) and Suse in the 2nd half and the seconf HD
works for suse only.

Thank you.

It is running. This system is weird. i use :

I ran from suse cd a repair (finally), even thought i used SAX2 to reconfig the graphic card and
NOHOTPLUG=1
NOCOLDPLUG=1
init 5 , enter and goes.

We are done here.
