SuSE 9.2/9.3 volume control window
I have just installed 9.3 on my computer and I still get this annoying volume control window. It pops up over everything else. I think it is to do with the keys on my keyboard relating to the volume control and indeed pressing fn+vol up key does increase the % on this window. It then however returns back to 0% by itself.
This occurs when kde starts and when kded starts. Does anybody know what might be causing this? I think it is related to kmix. As far as I can see, there is no way I can get rid of it, without killing kded. I need kded for kprinter and printing. There is an image here: http://www.dodgybloke.co.uk/vol.jpg so you can appreciate how annoying this is. While this window is up, if I try to increase the volume in kmix, it also shoots back down to 0%, so I cannot change my volume. Kmix also seems to ressurect itself if I kill from the command line or exit from the taskbar. I would appreciate any advice you can give me. I am not a linux newbie, Ive been using this for over 2 years now. I could not find anything useful on google and kded does not have any options related to volume control. |
Open control center:
Go to KDE components ---->>> Service manager In the right side lower half (Startup services): Remove the "tick mark" from Kmilo You will not get the pop up. (Map your special volume keys by adding the kmix applet in your panel.) |
Yeh, i worked it out myself now, but thanks for the info :)
