Suse 9.1 professional on proliant 2500
Hi Everyone, I'm having a problem installing suse 9.1 professional on my proliant 2500. I've installed redhat 9 and suse standard server 8 on this box using the following command due to the memory map problem in the bios. This command was used considering that i have 256mg's of ram.
"linux mem=exactmap mem=0x9f000@0 mem=0xff00000@0x100000 I don't understand why this distro won't install on my box. If someone could please help me out with this problem it will be greatly appreciated. Thankz...... Ahmed  |
Solution found
I ran into the same problem and found the solution after a bit of googling. In short, with a 2.6 kernel the line to add on the boot prompt is "memmap=176M@16M" (for my configuration with 192MB ram). Explanation and a lot more information can be found at http://www.cpqlinux.com/memory.html -BT
