I try out installation, installation acpi, istallation safe mode, even manual installation. When the system leveave the mentioned screen start to re-start the go to the same screen, again and again. I change the boot sequency under BIOS but I could not launch YaST running.

SuSE has different versions of the 9.1 distribution based on the type of hardware that you are installing on. Are you sure that you are trying to install the AMD64 version of SuSE 9.1?

Tks. YEs this is a version for 64 bits (at least is wittren). It includes 5 CDs to set up or 4 DVD double sides. The Cd 1 is a 32 bit intallation and for starting by cd2 is 64 + MB2,88 boot capability.
More information for the problem. The kernel for starting runs and after that instead of launch YaST, shutt down the system and re- start running the kernel again( In loop).
Tks

I think that this behavior means that the kernel detects a hardware error and reboots. This could be caused by trying to run a 32 bit kernel on a 64 bit machine. If that is not the cause of the loop then I can only make a vague guess that there is some type of hardware error in your AMD 64 bit CPU. Do you have any other 64 bit software that you can try?

No I do not have any other 64 bits. Where can I have one?

I have an additiional question. The Suse 9.1 pro specifies support to AMD Athlon 64 bits. I use opteron 64 bits. Is there any change that i need to do in the installation procedure or there is a specific kernel for that processor. If yes , may I have it download from somewhere?
Tks.

I found a thread on a forum that discusses your question. Her is the most definitive statement in the thread.

As far as I know only Linux supports AMD64. Here you can buy three different AMD64 distributions for US$13.95. I suggest you buy that or knoppix by itself. I recommend that you test your machine with knoppix AMD64 to distinguish whether you have a hardware problem, as I suspect, or if there is a problem in the SuSE AMD64 installer.

If your astroturf won't grow you should try planting real grass.

This is to close the thread. The system could run with that motherboard. I replace the motherboard updated the BIOS and could boot and load suse.
Thanks. Done.
