SuSE 9.0 sw install problems
Hello, I am completely new to Linux and hence pretty clueless. I've recently installed SuSE 9.0, and installation went fine. The problem is, I can't seem to get any software to install. I've downloaded Opera 7.54 (bin) MPlayer (tar.bz2) and LimeWire (bin) but can't install them. If I try to use Yast, it tells me I have missing dependencies. Would someone please be kind enough to explain installation basics? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi veverka!
Welcome to LinuxQuestions.org. Check this thread out to get a good understanding of how programs are installed under Linux: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=45094 Limewire is a bit special, it needs Java Runtime Enviroment setup correctly. SuSE 9.1 comes with JRE that you can easily install through YaST, not sure about 9.0, but it should be about the same. Anyhow, check this thread to get Limewire up and running. I wrote it a while ago, and should help you going with both Limewire and the Java plugin for Mozilla: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...171#post921171 Good luck! |
