SuSe 8.2/Ximian Desktop 2, GkrellM

Hi -
i used to have Mandrake Linux 9.1, but i was exposed to Ximian Desktop/Suse 8.2 and liked it so much better that i downloaded and installed it. However, i am told that Nautils does not have a viewer to open gkrellm's rpm file. i do not get this - i know you dont use make or anything.. i tried everything i could think of.

help!

Ximian comes with Red-Carpet.

Should be in your actions menu (or something like that)

Open that...go File/Install from file and change to the directory you saved the RPM's...then you are all set.

Hope this helps.

*Edit* you can run program/red-carpet too.

you should be able to go into the FILE menu and select install from file...the browse to your RPM (whereever you saved it). Double click it and it will be on the left hand side of red-carpet window. then you click Run Now and it should load.

With GKrellm you may want to consider loading from source. it seemed to work for me than the RPM's. it's pretty easy to do.

download the *.tar.gz file
unpack it somewhere
go into terminal
su to root
change to directory
type - make
then when done - install
that is it - run program gkrellm

good luck. red carpet is nice once you get the hang of it.
