Doesn't anybody have any more ideas? At least tell me I'm out of luck or SOMETHING? Don't leave me waiting in suspense!

Not your monitor

It isn't your monitor, because SuSE doesn't recognize my monitor either. Partly the reason why i switched to RedHat. I configured a generic LCD screen to all the correct frequencies, but I would still get an 'out of sync' error no matter what I did. But when I use the default one it configures during startup, it worked fine. But like you, I would get the 'your monitor' has been reconfigured thing.

Let me check out my grub config for RedHat. Maybe I can find something in there that would help.

You have any messaging programs?

Splash

Are you talking about the splash screen after you login? Like the KDE splash screen (or gnome)? Or you talking about the screen with the little SuSE lizard that shows the progress of loading?
