Question Suse 7.0, 2.2.19 kernel and Abit VP6 compatibility?

I would like to run Suse 7.0 (kernel 2.2.19) on a system using Abit's VP6 SMP motherboard but have an idea that this distribution might not work with a VP6 based on some other posts I've seen; ie. seems 2.4 kernel may be required with this motherboard. Versions of Oracle software I intend to use dictate use of Suse 7.0 and 2.2.19 kernel. Is anyone out there successfully using Suse 7.0, kernel 2.2.19 and Abit VP6?
