Suse 10 installation problem
hey
i'm trying to install suse 10 on my laptop.
I have windows installed on a seperate partition.
it boots from the cd fine and i can select a language and agree to the license, it then goes on to the system analysis, completes this but i goes straight onto time zone and i can't get any further than this, is there supposed to be some selection visible for my to select a time zone (I get nothing), the only way i can then get out of it is by turning off the computer, tried the same disk on a different computer and it went on fine.
Any ideas.

My guess is that there is a hardware incompatibility or some resource (like RAM or something) that is too low for the installation to use. Of course, you will normally be given a series of time zones to choose from.

try the rescue system
I had the same problem.
When I started the installer in text mode and switched to the console (I think it was via alt+F4), I noticed some complaints about read errors or something similar on /dev/hdc. I started up the rescue system and deleted/recreated the partition table using fdisk. After that the installer completed the "Analyzing Computer" step and presented me the time zone selection dialog.
Unfortunately later on the installation failed anyway. The hard disk seems to have more serious problems than I suspected. I will have to replace it.
