Running Mandrake 9.1
Okay...I installed superkaramba and I downloaded liquid weather. I started Superkaramba and then pointed it to the liquidweather.theme file. It opens...I am able to update for Phoenix and the weather program is working fine.
After I start it from a terminal I now have to minimize the terminal so I'm not looking at that. Is there anyway for superkaramba to automatically startup when I start KDE so it it starts up superkaramba then starts the liquidweather theme so I don't have to do this every time after I start KDE? Any help would be appreciated. thanks
In kde there is a directory called Autostart in ~/.kde/Autostart
whatever you put in there will be executed when kde starts so in your case you could make a shell script to start karamba, which should look something like this...
#!/bin/sh
KARAMBA_PATH=/usr/bin/karamba #path to the karamba program
THEME=/path/to/theme/file #path to the theme file
$KARAMBA_PATH $THEME
don't forget to make this file executable, and thats it

Also does the "$KARAMBA_PATH $THEME" have to be the last line here?
I then saved it and then checked the properties on it and checked the exec box. Does that make it executable? At this point do I just have to log out of kde and then log back in or do I have to do a restart?
1. create a file in the Autostart directory under the .kde directory in your home directory (/home/whoeveruare/.kde/Autostart). i called mine start_karamba.
2. paste the above script into that file. change paths to match your system's configuration. save file.
3. make the file executable. chmod +x start_karamba works.
test it out by executing your script from the command line, or just log out of your kde session and log back in. (you may want to close liquid weather/superkaramba if it's running before logging out, to be sure you aren't just reloading your previous session).
another thing to note - if you've just started using liquid weather, your user configuration changes (like your city) will not "stick" unless you either close the theme or reload the theme. that's when the config file is actually written. so, if you haven't already at least once closed or reloaded the weather theme, liquid weather will restart with the default options. reload the theme once after you've configured it with your city (right-click on the weather panel and choose configure theme, reload) to be sure you've saved your settings.
