SuperKaramba - black background on all themes
Hi,
I'm having a very weird problem, and I can only hope that one of you can help me! I downloaded SuperKaramba through apt-get, and once that was done I loaded it up and started downloading themes. After getting two themes up and running, I figured out that their black background weren't meant to be black (not only because it looked very odd, but also because I couldn't see any text!). A screenshot of my problem can be found here. The problem must be with SuperKaramba, not with the themes, but there are no errors when I start it up from terminal. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really really want this program to work! Thanks, J_K9 [edit] You may find that you get a 403 error when you click on the screenshot link, but just click on the URL and press "Enter" again and it'll work! |
At least liquid weather requires a >= v0.36 superkaramba
Which version do you have? |
The latest version....

This is what happens in terminal: When I start up SuperK, nothing happens. Then when I click on "Open a theme" (via the GUI), this happens: Quote:

Have a look at 3.3 here http://netdragon.sourceforge.net/faq...oubleshooting2
Sorry, don't know about the Importerror. Guessing a package is missing. Did you check the dependencies for it? |
Well, as I used apt-get, all of the dependancies should've been installed automatically...
Aaaaahhh, just had a look at your link: I'm trying to use this on GNOME, so that's probably the reason why! It's very strange though because I seen screenshots of other people's desktops and they have run SuperKaramba without any trouble on GNOME. The FAQ is for SuperK 0.35, so this bug may have been fixed in 0.36 but I'm still very confused why it works on other people's systems and not on mine. Could it be because of the distro? Anyway, thanks for your help! If anyone else knows of a solution which isn't on the FAQ then I'm all ears! J_K9 |
SuperKaramba does not work with Gnome.
Gdesklets is what you're looking for. |
Thanks! I already had gDesklets but for some reason forgot I even had it! lol. I have the iWeather widget but I can't figure out how to get my location code for the place I live. I've tried looking around on weather.com but haven't been able to find anything! Thanks,
[edit] I've managed to figure out a way of getting the location code, although I'm pretty sure it's not the way I was meant to do it ;). For those who want to know: I typed in my location, clicked and clicked until I got to the page where it displayed my location's weather forecast, and hovered my mouse over "Save this page" (or something like that). You should see a link in your status bar, and if you look closely you should see four letters (the ICAO code) and four numbers. That's your location code! J_K9 |
You're most welcome.
If the weather control widgit you're using is parsing xml from weather.com, you can use a US zipcode for location. Sorry but I don't know about non-US location codes of the top of my head. For Gnome menu editing I'd reccomend SMEG http://www.realistanew.com/projects/smeg/ Not sure if it's in your repo's or not, might have to get that answer from a Debian or Ubuntu user. |
