Suggestions for a voip client ?

Hi, I just upgraded to Kubuntu 8.04. Having some trouble with skype. I was wondering if anyone else had found some other workable solutions. I prefer an open source client, but I don't mind giving some money to any company that supports Linux either. I would need to make calls to ordinary phones and cell phones, and the ability to recieve them would be nice too. I don't mind paying for it, so it need not be free, it would just have to work.

I don't mind a little command line kung-fu, or compiling something myself, as long as an average linux user can get it installed in less than a half an hour.

Anyone have something working right now ?

David

Anyone get it working with Kubuntu and pulseaudio yet ? I've just downloaded and tried it. It doesn't detect my audio settings. Skype is working, finally, and everything else audio is working fine. But not this.

Haha... with some googling, I found that this is a common problem, with the ekiga people saying it's a bug with pulseaudio and the pulseaudio people saying it's a bug with ekiga. Fun fun fun. In any event, it doesn't work, yet. I did find a guy who can get it to run by using a perl script to disable pulseaudio during ekiga calls. Not sure if I want to use such a hacked system. Might check it out though. Here is a link, if anyone is interested.

If I do try it, I'll post the results back here.....
