Suggest me a Bandwidth Limiting Tool.....!!!

Hello Friends...

I'm working in a institution with more 500 machines, most of them connected to internet. We are having a bandwidth of 2Mbps and some of the clients are using torrents and download accelerator and hogging up all the bandwidth. There is some serious bandwidth issue.
I need a tool or something to limit their bandwidth usage (not to block their access) without their knowledge.

We are using a dhcp server with RHEL 4AS dnsmasq and squid configured. Also using Ntop to monitor bandwidth.

Suggest me a tool.....!!!

A good start would be
http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO...ing-HOWTO.html
You could block protocols like torrents and ftp

tc

A very limited introduction on lartc.org. Open the "large HTML" version and search for traffic shaping. There are plenty of references to examples. Focus on HTB policy.

It will take you some days before you grab the implementation concept, but tc is tunable almost down to individual bit packets.
