su: user does not exist

Dear all,

I have create a user on my Red Hat server, but when i try to connect from the clients i receive the following error:
su: user <> does not exist.

any ideas?

are the server and client 2 different machines? if yes do remote login. use telnet or ssh but you need to configure these first.

if the same machine please tell what do you mean by server and client. it may happen that you have not set any password to new account. use passwd to set one or passwd -d if no password.

Hi,

The server and the client are two different machines. When I login with ssh on server it works fine, but i can't login on clients. this happens with one particular user, the rest works fine.

any ideas?

the problem solved,

the only think i have to do, was to reconfigure the NIS. now it works fine.
