Strip special characters from filenames

Does anyone know of a program that can go into a directory and automatically rename files to remove diacritics and to transliterate files from the other alphabets to the latin alphabet.

Nope, write one yourself. It's not that hard. I like PHP, but Perl is probably better.
There's also: Python, Ruby, Lua, etc...

I like PHP because of the huge amount of online help for it. And all the built in functions. Plus it looks and feels alot like C/C++.

(PS you'll wanna use the "preg" functions in PHP)

see www.php.net for more information
