streaming video isn't always working with mplayer plug-in

I am trying to watch streaming video from on my computer, which is running Fedora Core 2. Usually I have no problems with streaming video because I have mplayer's plug-in set up. When I try to watch videos on, however, I am told that "We have detected your browser does not have the required Windows Media 9 plug-in to play this video." When I go to about:plugins in firefox it says that Windows Media Player is supported, so I don't understand what the problem is. Any ideas?
