Streaming UVC webcam

I want to set up a webcam stream so my wife can see our baby when she's at work (the "Babycam"). I just bought a new Creative Live! Cam Video IM which is UVC compatible. It works fine with Skype and luvcview, but when I try to view it in VLC the video lines wrap strangely (see attached).

I tried installing mjpg-streamer because it seems like a popular way to stream UVC webcams in Linux but I had trouble getting it compiled and there don't seem to be an precompiled binaries for OpenSUSE 11.1.

I don't really care which program I use for streaming, but I'd prefer to use a Linux solution.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Never mind!

The problem was I was using the git version of VLC. When I downgraded to the stable version everything worked fine.

How to I mark the thread as "solved"?
