Streaming TV Tuner Input

Hi there, I currently have a small "headless" server setup on my network running Debian 4.0 which I simply access with ssh when needed, as there is no GUI installed, just the base system - it mainly just gets used for file storage. However what I would like to do is turn this server into a small media hub by adding a TV tuner card to it and streaming its input to other systems on my network. Is there any software that I could simply run from the command line over ssh which would be capable of doing this?

Thanks in advance!

i dare say there are more suitable ones, but from the off i'd be looking towards VLC / VideoLan to do this.

Ah I wasn't aware that the streaming part of VLC could actually be configured from the command line. Just been reading through some of the documentation and I'll have to play around with it a bit I guess...

there's another angle you might like to explore, which is something i'm till very new to, and that's upnp. there's services like twonkyvision ($30 a pop) or other upnp media servers (software) which generically stream abuot anythign to upnp clients. also check out both elisa and flumotion from fluendo which are open source media services, aimed for both set top boxes (like the upnp buffalo linktheater which i've just got) and desktop use.
