streamer & bt848: recording sound

Hi All,

I installed my WinTV-Card yesterday and was happy that xawtv worked nearly immediately (had to add -nogl to the cmdline), I even have sound.

Now my problem: I wanted to record a movie with streamer, and even this seemed to work, but it doesn't record sound I tried changing the recording-source with gnome "Volume Control", but this didn't help either.

I guess, that streamer records sound, but somehow doesn't get the propper source and records just silence...

I tried to find out what sound-source xawtv uses as I get sound there, but I could find anything (lsof returns just /dev/pts.. )

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Some info on my system:

Kernel: 2.4.22-21mdk
Distro: Mandrake 9.2
Desktop: Gnome

I do use the cable from the tv-card line-out to souncard line-in

Hey how much you got this card for? The chips (848) seems to little older to get it new.

Streamer? You can also try XawDecode with ffmpeg.

How does sound from your TV Card go to your Sound Card? There are two possibilities: One the most likely one, is to run an external audio cable from TV Card to your Sound card. Two, is a presence of an audio chip in the TV card itself.

For the either case, in audio mixer settings (aumix), did you turn on recording for the appropriate input source like say 'Line In' for the first case.

Never mind, I failed to see it.

So then, you need to turn on line-in for recording in the mixer settings. And adjust the volume accordingly.
