Stream .wma and .wmv in Linux

I wonder if it this possible to have a stream-server who streams .wma and .wmv in linux, so other windows and linux users are able to listen to it.

If it is possible then you guys/girls maybe have som tips of which programs i should use. As the dist. I'm planning to use gentoo, but if you have some other alternative you are are welcome to present it for me.

Best regards,
Pär

dont stream windows media - use OGG (xiph.org, vorbis.com)
or
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ <<- a very good server.

And as for the distro, if u have enough time and machine power and good internet connection , go for gentoo. Else look for some binary distros like ArchLinux, slackware, debian.
