Strange web pages with directory/folders ftp?

Get VLC from here:
http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/vlc/

I've encountered these before but I always have to save each individual item (such as build/faac_gcc44.diff) if I just click on it like a normal file it opens it to view, infact I must right lick to "save link as" for every single file!! very frustrating.

Is there some special way to save all of them at once?

Is this ftp or something?

[okay I didn't "right lick" anything 3:> ]

Talking to someone next to me and they said it was an archive.

Hi,
Use a tool like wget or curl for pulling files enmasse such as in this case.

Sample usage:

Code:
wget --mirror -p --convert-links -P /home/anglee/pkgs/vlc-for-14/ http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/vlc/pkg/14.0/
Read the manual to get more idea on how to tailor it to your needs. You can use flags like "-c" to control how to resume interrupted and unfinished downloads, etc. Very nifty!

Here's an article that discusses both tools. Some sample cURL usage here

Hope it helps.

thanks

Thats great I will make a note of that for the future.

However, I don't have internet at home, so use a windows system at an internet cafe.
Do you know a way of doing it in Windows (XP), do you know what these pages are called, perhaps I could search for a tool to do it?

That's easily done. These are FOSS tools and they are very good at what they do. They are ported to Windows already.

Searching wget for windows gives me: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/wget.htm

Searching curl for windows gives me: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9...url-in-windows

Duck Duck Fu FTW! Ask Jeeves too!! Google is so passe :P

Thanks heaps, shame not everyone has converted to linux yet.
But all we need is some great games, which is what I'm working on (linux exclusive).
