Hello,

i have centos 6.5 desktop edition and i am trying to install usb modeswitch to get my modem work.

Here i go

installed :
Quote:
usb_modeswitch-data-20120120-1.el6.rf.noarch.rpm
error :
Quote:
usb_modeswitch-data-20120120-1.el6.rf.noarch requires usb_modeswitch >= 1.1.2
Then i installed :
Quote:
usb_modeswitch-1.1.5-1.el6.rf.i686.rpm
error :
Quote:

First, do NOT bump your own threads, especially after only a few hours. It's fairly rude, and all you really succeeded in doing is removing your post from the zero-reply list, making it LESS VISIBLE and LESS LIKELY to be answered. And you need to spell out your words, please.

Second, you don't say how you're doing the installation, just listing a package name. Are you running it as root? Using the rpm command or the yum command? What options are you running them with??

You should ALWAYS use yum to install things, since it will resolve dependency issues for you, and automatically download packages to make things work. So running "sudo yum install usb_modeswitch-1.1.5-1.el6.rf.i686.rpm", should be all you have to do. If you're using the RPM command, try "rpm --nodeps -i usb_modeswitch-1.1.5-1.el6.rf.i686.rpm", which will tell it to NOT look for dependencies, and just shove the package in. It is then up to YOU to manually install the missing packages one by one. Also, reading the man pages on both the yum and rpm commands would tell you how to get around these issues.
