strange sudo problem

My opensuse 64 bit box is coming off a clean install. I have set it up to auth to our Win2k domain using kerberos and smb. After installing some addtional packages(openmpi, fortran, gcc), when I am in a command shell and sudo or su root this is what I get:

"Permissions on the password database may be too restrictive.
su: incorrect password"

It "appears" just started doing that after the packages I installed but I cant be certian of that. I have seen that message before when first logging into the windows account sometimes but never when I am already in the domain account and try to sudo. Looks like its confused and looking for the domain account password instead of roots.
