Strange mplayer problem.

When I play a video file in mplayer it hangs badly unless I constantly move the mouse. As long as the mouse is moving it plays fine.

I didn't see anything like this listed on the mplayer site although I could have missed it. I don't know if it matters but I have an ATI radeon 7500 video card.

Ok, I remembered something from a while back when I was having some video display trouble with xine and to fix it I had to change the default video driver in my devices.inf file from vesa to ati. So I went and did that and now when I start mplayer I get and error message about it not being able to open/initialize audio device. So according to the mplayer FAQs it says to disable arts, when I do that I'm right back to the same origional problem.
