glibc-2.3.2-20030312
I been searching all over the web and usenet archives (google) and FAQs to no avail.
Here the problem, everything confgures ok
Code:
[root@SRLINUX buildglibc]# ../glibc-2.3.2-20030312/configure
--enable-add-ons=linuxthreads --prefix=/usr/local/glibc-2.3.2
.
.
.
running configure fragment for sysdeps/i386/elf
running configure fragment for sysdeps/pthread
running configure fragment for sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux
checking for egrep... (cached) grep -E
checking installed Linux kernel header files... 2.0.10 or later
checking for symlinks in /usr/local/glibc-2.3.2/include... ok
running configure fragment for sysdeps/unix/common
running configure fragment for sysdeps/unix
running configure fragment for sysdeps/generic
checking for old glibc 2.0.x headers... no
checking whether -fPIC is default... no
configure: creating ./config.status

'--prefix=/usr/local/glibc-2.3.2' --cache-file=/dev/null
--srcdir=../../glibc-2.3.2-20030312/linuxthreads
but when I try to make (or make all or make check or make clean), I get this rather odd error:
Code:
make
make -r PARALLELMFLAGS="" CVSOPTS="" -C ../glibc-2.3.2-20030312 objdir=`pwd` all
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/glibc-2.3.2-20030312'

make[1]: *** [configure] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/glibc-2.3.2-20030312'
make: *** [all] Error 2
I have all the required untlities as noted in the
INSTALL and
FAQ files.
RH 7.3

And one more question. I'm actually upgrading from glibc-2.2.5-44 on this RH 7.3 box, is it safe to just overide the old, or would it be better it have an alternate prefix as I've atmpted to do? I've been working with Linux for a number of years now, and have becoem quite experienced. Upgrading glibc by compiling is something I have not done yet (though I've compiled a great many other things in Linux.)
