I am trying to figure out how storix backup works.I have installed storix network edition on red hat linux box , which is system admin. And I installed client/server software on other linux box. Now I am trying to configure the client from the Sbadmin software. It shows up in red icon and unable to connect to client server.Although I am able to ping the server normally.

Also, pinging is just an ICMP echo request...you have to make sure the ports are open in whatever firewall you're using on your Linux box, so the agent can connect. Also, since this is a commercial product, did you contact their support folks????

I am new to stroix. I studied manuals provided in storix website and playing around. I too face the same kind of issue in which client is marked with red dash sign. See the attached pic. Did you found any solution? When I tried to check the network connection from storix server to client side, I got following messages:
[root@localhosts ~]# stcheck 10.221.67.105
Communications check for 10.221.67.105
Actual name is android-dc101e6c15aa0e15.hq.bn-corp.com
Timeout is 10 seconds
Contacting remote host...
Unable to connect to host 10.221.67.105: Connection refused.

You re-opened a five year old thread. And did you read the reply given before? Either the client software isn't loaded, or something is blocking communications....check the network. Also, since storix is commercial, pay-for software, did you try contacting their tech support?
