Stop app appearing in taskbar

Hi all,

I have been searching these forums but I couldn't seem to find an answer to this question. What i want to know is if it is possible to run a program but stop the icon for it appearing in the taskbar. I am running a system monitor called conky and at the moment it comes up with an icon on the taskbar - I want to remove that. Is there a way to do this? If so, how should I go about doing it?

Hello

By any chance, did you manage to get this resolved?

I have found myself in the same situation, but instead of Conky I wish to hide a mythtvfrontend icon that is appearing.

I could possibly remove the taskbar applet entirely but that is not suitable in this situation.
