Static binaries for SPARC64?

I recently installed Linux on a Sun Ultra 5, and it seems like iwconfig won't work because it's compiled in 32-bit compatibility mode. I'd like to get a native, 64-bit wireless-tools package on the system, but I don't know how to go about doing that.

This system doesn't have *ANY* trace of a 64-bit userland, since Splack only uses 64-bit for the kernel. I tried to compile glibc for SPARC64, using the gcc64 compiler which is there for the kernel. This is failing with the message, "collect2: ld not found" or similar.

How can I go about getting a 64-bit wireless-tools package on this system? Please help if you can.
