What are the commands that you can put on the end of startx that will allow you to specify the resolution you wish to run?

I'm trying to install Lindows, but my screen goes out when I try to install it normally.

Most likely your card isn't supported or they don't have the correct drivers loaded to support your video card.

AFAIK there are no options you can pass at startx to control the resolution or such. startx basically only reads from the XF86Config file.
