Angry Starting To Really Hate My Linspire

I've been using Linspire for about 4 months now. Never have been able to get sound to work, tried two different kinds of soundcards plus one on motherboard. Now the CNR site won't work unless I subscribe and pay. I've been trying to install "wine" to get some of my windows compatible programs to work but can't install. I tried to get directoins on installing from web, but this linux based OS is just to goofy to get down. With paths like "/.root/klondyke/knerd.babalou". Why can't they be something we're used to like "C:/desktop/file1". Every time my browser fires up I never know what size the display or fonts will be, and it's anybodys guess what it will put in for a zip code on a double click. God, I wish I had my Windows XP back again, but every since i installed Linspire, even after re-formatting and partitioning my hard drive, I can't get it to install again. I guess it's just time to shoot the old girl and get a new computer. My advise is stick with the status quo, Windows may be one sided and occationaly freak out, but everythings still geared for it. Mr. Gates at MS has seen to that, and like it or not, there's still no acceptable subsitute.

So do you want help or is this just a rant that your going back to Windows?

If it is just a rant, well, we'll move it off to General since it is more of a discussion rather than question and I'll wish you well on your way. But if you want actual help, that is what this site is for, for asking questions cause 99% of the members on this board can really care less if you want to switch back to Windows or not..

Regards.

Why don't you just get a well established linux distribution like SuSE or
Red Hat? They are thoroughly tested and known to work well.

Because the UNIX path notation makes much more sense than
this weird MS way of assigning letters to partitions.
