Question Starting postfix: Postfix integrity check failed!

Hi,

I'm trying to get a mail system up and running and haven't had much experience doing this. I don't seem to be able to run the postfix program to to start the system or even check if it's running or not.

I get the following errors when running # postfix start:

Code:
bash-3.00# postfix start
/etc/postfix/postfix-script: line 75: 5210 Killed $command_directory/postsuper
postfix/postfix-script: fatal: Postfix integrity check failed!
When running postfix check I get something similar:

Code:
bash-3.00# postfix check
/etc/postfix/postfix-script: line 75: 5988 Killed $command_directory/postsuper

Could anyone tell me why this would be happening and suggest how to fix it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I am no expert on this system, but I read the command files on my system, and (if yours are similar) it looks like the Postfix system is getting into trouble when it goes to scan the mail queues. There ought to be some additional info in the maillog file, where postfix writes messages about nearly everything it does. If there is not some informative message, you might try the command
Code:
# postsuper -sv
This command scans the queues and reports (somewhat verbosely) on what it has done. A wild guess as to what is causing this problem is that the permission bits and maybe the owner/group are not set the way Postfix wants it to be on the mail queue folders. But the log messages will tell you in more detail if that is the problem.

Thanks for your response.

The maillog file doesn't include much helpful info. Only the same message about postfix integrity check failure.

The postsuper -sv command seems to get killed after about 103 lines as well.

Code:
bash-3.00# postsuper -sv

...

postsuper: inet_addr_local: configured 3 IPv4 addresses
postsuper: mynetworks: 127.0.0.0/8
postsuper: dict_eval: const 127.0.0.0/8
Killed
