What happens when you start fluxbox as user, without the sudo stuff?
I have used Fluxbox on several distros, mostly Slackware and Debian, but also for a time on Ubuntu, before I got fed up with Canonical's antics. When I have it selected as my default window manager in .xinitrc, then login to TTY as user and type "startx," Fluxbox has just worked. I have no experience with Linux Lite, though. I have a sense that, on some level, you are making this more complicated than it needs to be, but, from the information provided, I can't offer anything more specific. |
it just gave me an empty black screen...!

Could you post the contents of your .xinitrc file?
Also, have you successfully another GUI on this machine? |
