Start kontact minimized in kde 4 when logging in

Hi All

Kontact is automatically started when I log in to kde 4 and I would like to figure out how to make it immediately minimize to a tray icon.

When I used kde 3.5 I had a script in .kde/autostart that ran a dcop call to close kontact, which effectively minimized it to a tray icon. I assume that I should be able to do the same now with dbus and a script using dbus-send. The problem is that I haven't been able to figure out the exact dbus call that I would need.

Has anyone else tried to accomplish the same thing? I've googled but all the results I've found are for kde 3.

I'm using kde 4.1.3 and kontact 1.3.

Thanks.

Doesn't this work?

http://docs.kde.org/stable/en/kdepim...d-line-startup

The handbook seems to be dated, but I don't think they changed the options' names and handling... But I'm absolutely no expert on KDE, let alone KDE4...

Thanks for the response. The "--iconify" switch would be fine if I was starting kontact manually but kde saves my session when I log out so it automatically restarts everything I had open. When I login again, it restarts kontact but instead of starting it minimized to a tray icon it starts with the main window open even though it was minimized to a tray icon when I logged out.

I know this thread is a little stale now, but in case anyone ever comes along and wonders the same thing I managed to achieve what I wanted by creating a script that runs when kde 4 starts with the following in it:
Code:
qdbus org.kde.kontact /kontact/MainWindow_1 com.trolltech.Qt.QWidget.close
Kontact now pops up briefly when I log in, this script kicks in and kontact is then automatically minimised to the taskbar.
