Question start application openoffice through php on linux


hi, i am new bee...

pl help me
for starting openoffice through php programming code,
i am using shell_exec() function , but it is not working .
I have Red Hat Linux 7.3 and php 4.1.2.

does anyone know how to open openoffice writer through php
