ssh -X and data transfer limits

Hi Gurus,

I live in a student dormitory where the max. permissible limit of data transfer (incoming + outgoing) is 5 GB per month. My work place has no limits in traffic.

I ssh -X (from dormitory) into my work place and browse by launching Firefox... Will this help in reducing the traffic or will it be the same traffic.

Many thanks,

Well, it will probably be the same. No matter how you look at it, you are still transfering information through your connection. Thus, you are using the 5gig per month.

Oh and i also should mention that using the -X option will require MASSIVE amounts of information to be sent over the net. That will eat your 5gigs up in a couple days tops.
