Where or how do I enable scrollback buffer? I am using bitvise because of it's better profile and sftp support, yet Putty has scrollback buffer. Where is the bitvise support?
BSD solved this decades ago. Scroll lock will pause any scrolling buffer in any terminal or screen. Where is this in linux!
Also I would like to search the scrollback buffer.
Well, since bitvise is proprietary software for legacy operating systems, I would guess that the support is over at bitvise.com or at one of the many legacy operating system forums.
Or if you meant a differnt terminal emulator, then which distro are you connecting from, including version?

Mainly, I would like to search the scrollback buffer, either with an ssh client, or on the system itself.
If screen is required, then I will use screen all the time.
Well you still have not said which distro you are connecting from nor the terminal emulator in use there. The defaults for most distros allow ctrl-shift-F for searching the buffer and have built-in scroll back for quite a large number of lines. If the default terminal emulator on your chosen distro does not have everything then you might consider Alacritty. However, the configuration of that has a steep learning curve.

I have been searching for a solution to this issue for years in linux. This is the main reason that I prefer bsd.
You could have suggested to use a terminal emulator such as moba.
