SSH Session slows down over time while connected

I'm having a problem where my OpenSSH server's session (after I log in) gets slower and slower over time.

For example, I might connect to Xvnc tunnelled through SSH. The VNC updates pretty quickly, but over time the graphics update rate slows and the inputs I send have a longer time resolution.

I'm pretty sure this isn't an Xvnc issue because it occurs with other SSH sessions. When I connect using PuTTY on Windows, using just PuTTY's shell, the connection slows down too, meaning keystrokes take time to appear on the screen.

I've also noticed that when I use SSH to create a tunnel to the Squid Proxy Server sitting on my SSH server's box (to bypass stupid internet filters), the connection speed slows down, so I think it's an SSH issue.

Note that I am not having the issue where it takes 20-30 seconds to log on, like many users are having. My issue is where the connection slows down after I already have logged in and used the connection for some time.

Does anyone have a suggested fix for this? Thanks.

My first suggestion would be to use verbose flag to get more info :
Code:
-v
The more flag you use the deeper into verbose you go, maximum is 3 flags as :
Code:
-vvv
This last verbose stage will makes your session not very usable (the verbosity is spitted into the terminal...)

This should gives you some good info about what's going on.

Hope this helps.
