squid failed. The error was: init_cache_dir
 
i intall fedora core 4 but i cannot start squid proxi my system giving me that messages SERVER01 squid: Could not determine fully qualified hostname. Please set 'visible_hostname'

[root@SERVER01 etc]# squid -z
FATAL: Could not determine fully qualified hostname. Please set 'visible_hostname'

Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE9): Terminated abnormally.

Please I need some help

The error means that squid couldn't determine the FQDN of the box it's running on. What do you have in your /etc/hosts file? You should be able to set a hostname for the box, or modify squid.conf and set the visible_hostname option there to something like yourhost.yourdomain.com.
