squid cache

How do I change the cache settings for squid so that:
a. the cache is only stored for 7 days and
b. the cache does not cache video or mp3 files

Well I would recommend taking a look at your config file, and or perhaps the default config file that came with your package, probably in some directory called example. I find they are pretty good commenting the config so you know what your changes do.

I did have a look but wasn't sure specifically only how long it was cached for and how to turn it off only for specific file types

I seem to be getting a lot of these types of responses in the log files - TCP_MISS lines
1250298381.978 282 86.xxx.xxx.xx TCP_MISS/200 1941 POST http://ocsp.thawte.com/ demo_1 DIRECT/199.7.48.72 application/ocsp-response

What does that mean - the pages are loading correctly because I'm accessing them while viewing the tail of the file...
