Squid asking for visible_hostname


I am running the command squid -z to make the swap directorys and it si giving me this error. What do I need to do to fix this?


[root@backupsvr root]# /usr/local/squid/sbin/squid -z
FATAL: Could not determine fully qualified hostname. Please set 'visible_hostname'

Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE5): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.010 seconds = 0.010 user + 0.000 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 260
Aborted
[root@backupsvr root]#

in your squid.conf define it

visible_hostname mysquid ------->(mysquid could be any name)

Thank you I found it now. Squid is working but I have not worked with all the acls.

sorry,
i've the same problem

i put the name in squid.conf but the problem still remain...

i've to do something else?

After when you edit squid.conf you have to stop squid and run it again for exzample in shell put command:
> service squid restart (Red hat)
or
> killall -9 squid
> squid
PS. You have to add this in squid.conf file:
visible_hostname myname or my squid ip
