Squid

I am using RHEL 3.0 with squid. I have configured squid with ip restriction.

acl inetip src 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.15
http_access allow inetip
http_access deny all

But some persion using another proxy through squid.

That means

In 10.0.0.1 machine has installed CCProxy or Analogx proxy.

So other machines are browsing using this windows Proxy. (except 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.15)

How to restrict using windows proxy through squid proxy.

Please Reply.

Its urgent

I don't think there's a lot you can do about this from a Squid perspective. I believe that proxy requests look just like browser requests.

I recommend beating whoever installed the rogue proxy over the head with a hard-back copy of 'The Practice of System and Network Administration (Limoncelli et al)' until either they lose consciousness, or they un-install the proxy software.

So what happened?

Did you solve your problem?

Personally, I think you could have implemented a drastic, hard-nosed solution in squid by cutting off the machine w/ the rogue proxy installed.

  1. What's urgent to you isn't to us. At least you didn't put "URGENT !!!!" in the thread title.
  2. How truly urgent is it if you didn't post a follow up.
  3. If you're going to mention Analogx & CCProxy, some links to information on them might be useful.
  4. How do you know where the rogue proxy has been installed?
  5. Who did it?
  6. What is his/her job in the organization?
  7. Is s/he you boss? ... sign your paycheck?
  8. How do you know it's only Analogx or CCProxy, & not something else?
  9. Why can't you distinguish between Analogx or CCProxy?
