squares in java application output text
Hi everybory,
I have a weird problem with a java application I am trying to use (casperFDR). The problem is I ran it succesfully on a computer with an installed Knoppix distribution. After that I tried to run it on my laptop (which has a standard Red Hat 9 distribution) and it did run correctly but the outputted text was riddled with squares. Basically there is a square between every character, an example: []I[]n[]i[]t[]i[]a[]l[]i[]z[]i[]n[]g[]:[] []p[]l[]e[]a[]s[]e[] []w[]a[]i[]t[].[].[].[] I have no clue why this happens because on the Knoppix system the text was displyed correctly. Any help on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated becasue the output text is very hard to comprehend. thanks in advance! debikkel |
Sounds like a locale problem. Check what locale you were running in Knoppix and set the locale (specifically character set) in Redhat to the same one you had in Knoppix.
