Question Splitting MPEG File

I try to split ordinary MPEG-1 file with strange result.

Command: Discard the first 35 second of the video file.

mpgsplit test.mpg [00:00:35.0-]

Now processing Test.mpg [1/1] ...
failed, range results in an empty chunk

test.mpg is normal video file (several minutes).
I can play test.mpg using mplayer and vlc.

Another test: Get the first 35 second of the video file

mpgsplit test.mpg [00:00:00.1-00:00:35.0]

Error: Negative range!

How to split mpg using mpgsplit?
Is there any other tools?

Thank you.

I know nothing about mpgsplit, but according to your syntax structure,
could you try like this?

mpgsplit test.mpg [-00:00:35.0]

regards,
