Question splash screen on bootup

Hello,

some days ago i installed SuSE Linux 8.2. I had to do it with the command "vga=0" because i use a Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti4200 and Suse didn't know the card.

In fact now i'm booting with a DOS-Like screen. I tried to change the variable vga=0 to -> vga=0x137 but with that i only had a black screen and nothing happened!

So what do i have to do to get my splash screen?

To Eqwatz: My whole hardware is working fine i think i did an online update with SuSE YOU but i'm not able to activate the splash screens which are normally standart in this distro.
So i'm a little helpless.

But i try to set the parameter vga=ask. Hope i'll see something that helps me.

when i try the parameter vga=ask it shows:
Video Adapter: VESA CARD (maybe this is the problem and my kernel don't know the card)
Mode: Cols x Rows:
0 0F00 80x25
1 0F01 80x50
2 0F02 80x43
3 0F03 80x28
4 0F05 80x30
5 0F06 80x34
6 0F07 80x60
7 0309 132x25
8 030A 132x43
9 030B 132x50
a 030C 132x60

Did you google the video chipset? and search the hardware forum? I thought that there was a stable and functional driver for that card. It isn't hard to compile everything once you have it all sorted out.
