Do apoligize, my fault!!!
I have messed up the removable hard drives and installed a corrupted one full of bad sectors all over, now I am installing on clean Hard drive, everyhting working ok.
Cheers

Hi vlk72,

Sorry, I am behind you in this matter, so I come here to ask you for help.

This is my first time trying to install Red Hat Linux 8.0; I kept getting the error message "the Red Hat Linux CD was not found in your CD-ROM drive" after I restarted my PC and followed some installation instructions using the boot diskette (extracted from boot.img using "rawrite2.exe"). I downloaded Red Hat Linux 8 (+ README) from ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/redhat/redh....0/en/os/i386/

Please email me the answer if you have solutions + time. My email address is nipgor@hotmail.com

Thank you very much in advance.

installing RH8 was lab 1 in a class im in, it took about 20 minutets total, but the machines are P4 Dells. That was my 1st time installing RH8, but it was just as fast as installing RH7, 7.1 or 7.3, 7 hours is crazy. I dont have any suggestions for speeding it up, i'd say one way would be to install as little as possible, then go back and add packages you want with the rmps later.

That's amazing you could wait until 7 hours. :D

I didn't realize thas was using a bad hard drive, and left it run overnight, now I have managed to install Linux in less than 30 minutes!!! That's quie a difference!!! Even thought still one problem: it doesn't boot from HD, get stuck on GRUB, can only boot using the floppy disk. Have I done something wrong???
